Are your handmade soaps vegan?
Yes! All our handmade soaps are vegan, palm oil free, sulphate free, paraben free, eco-friendly, cruelty free, zero waste and made in Australia. I use essential oils and phthalate free fragrance oils. I also make my own plant based milk that goes in some of the soaps!
Ditch the plastic!
Because we are passionate about reducing waste and caring for our environment, all our soaps are wrapped and shipped plastic free. We pack them with recyclable, compostable, and biodegradable filler.
I can’t use soap – it makes my skin dry!
Ok, we get this a lot, but do you mean handmade soap or commercial soap?
What’s the difference between commercial soap and handmade soap then?
GLYCERIN. Glycerin is removed as part of the commercial soap process (which is the moisturising goodness!). Commercial soaps can contain harsh chemicals and additives BUT, glycerin is added to the soaps by way of the ‘cold process’ method of soapmaking (the way we make all our soaps). It’s what makes handmade soaps different.
What’s so great about handmade soap?
We’re so glad you asked! Handmade soap is lovingly designed, crafted and hand poured. I get to choose every ingredient that goes into our soaps and it’s ingredients like skin loving butters and oils that our skin loves which makes them kind and gentle on the skin. Each time you purchase handmade soap, you’re also supporting a small business – how good is that!
How does soap clean your skin anyway?
Washing with water alone just doesn’t work and washing with soap is the most effective way to keep dirt and germs at bay. Basically the soap molecules attract the dirt and they become suspended in the water you wash with– allowing dirt to be rinsed away with water.
How do you make your soap?
All our soap using the traditional cold process method. Once the soap is made and unmoulded, the soap is cured for a minimum of 4 weeks before they are ready to use.
How to care for your soap
Keeping your soap dry between uses will ensure you get the most out of your soap. Handmade soap doesn't like being in puddles of water. A raised soap dish is ideal to help provide air flow around the soap between uses to ensure a longer lasting bar - like any of our soap dishes we sell. Avoid prolonged sun exposure and store in a cool dry place when not in use.
Are soaps safe to use while pregnant/nursing?
While great care is taken in formulating our soaps, some do contain essential oils and not all essential oils are suitable for pregnancy/nursing mothers. We recommend that you review our ingredient list with your doctor to discuss if they will be suitable for you to use.
I’m allergic to fragrances
No problemo! We have our botanical range using essential oils and unscented options as well.
How long does a bar of soap normally last?
It really depends on whether you shower once or twice a day and how many times you lather up in the shower but on average it would be around 3-4 weeks.
How long does your soap stay fresh?
Soap usually stays good for over a year, however we recommend using it within 6 months of purchase. When you are not using them (or storing extras) make sure you store it in a cool dry place out of the sun. A linen closet or drawer is ideal. You may notice the intensity of the fragrance may fade over time (but not always – it really depends on the individual fragrance).
Do you wholesale soaps to stores?
Yes we do! Please contact us for more information if you are interested in setting up a wholesale account and purchasing soaps for your store.
